CVE-2025-22121 is an out-of-bounds read, reported by KASAN as a use-after-free, in the Linux kernel ext4 filesystem implementation. During inode eviction and orphan cleanup, ext4_xattr_delete_inode() can process an inode-resident extended attribute without verifying that the attribute data is valid. This allows ext4_xattr_inode_dec_ref_all() to read invalid or freed memory. The correction validates inode-resident extended attributes through xattr_check_inode(), with validation centralized in ext4_iget_extra_inode() to prevent inconsistent checking across paths.
