TrueFoundry Cognita contains a path traversal vulnerability in the /v1/internal/upload-to-local-directory endpoint when the Local environment variable is set to true, such as in Docker-based deployments. An attacker can supply a crafted path to write files outside the intended local upload directory. In the documented exploit path, the attacker overwrites /app/backend/init.py. Because the Docker environment runs the backend uvicorn server with auto-reload enabled, modification of that Python module causes the server to automatically reload and execute the attacker-controlled file contents, resulting in remote code execution within the Docker container. The issue was fixed in commit a78bd065e05a1b30a53a3386cc02e08c317d2243.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept Bash script (exploit.sh) to exploit CVE-2025-27519, a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the 'below' logging utility on Linux. The exploit abuses the fact that /var/log/below/ is world-writable, allowing a local attacker to replace the error log file with a symlink to /etc/passwd. By triggering an error in 'below', the script enables the attacker to inject a fake root user entry into /etc/passwd, then switches to this new root user ('diablo'). The repository consists of a detailed README.md explaining the vulnerability and usage, and a single exploit script. The attack is local, requires the vulnerable configuration, and results in full root access on the target system.
