CVE-2025-34073 is an unauthenticated OS command injection vulnerability in stamparm/maltrail (Maltrail) versions 0.54 and earlier. The flaw is present in the /login endpoint, where the username parameter from a POST request is handled unsafely and passed to subprocess.check_output() in core/http.py without proper neutralization of shell metacharacters. As a result, a remote attacker can supply crafted input in the username field to inject and execute arbitrary operating system commands on the underlying host. Exploitation does not require prior authentication, and the injected commands run with the privileges of the Maltrail process.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (maltrail_rce.rb) that exploits an unauthenticated command injection vulnerability (CVE-2025-34073) in Maltrail versions 0.54 and below. The exploit targets the 'username' parameter in the '/login' endpoint, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands without authentication. The module supports both direct command execution and staged payloads (such as reverse shells) for Unix and Linux targets. The exploit is weaponized, leveraging Metasploit's payload and command stager capabilities, and is designed for remote exploitation over HTTP (default port 8338). The code is well-structured, with clear separation of check, exploit, and payload delivery logic, and includes references to public advisories and proof-of-concept code.
