CVE-2025-34104 is an authenticated remote code execution vulnerability affecting Piwik (now Matomo) versions prior to 3.0.3. The issue resides in the plugin upload mechanism: a user with Superuser privileges can upload a crafted malicious plugin packaged as a ZIP archive and then activate it, causing attacker-controlled PHP code contained in the plugin to execute on the server. The vulnerability stems from unsafe acceptance and execution of uploaded plugin content, effectively allowing executable server-side code to be introduced through the application’s extension management functionality. Beginning with version 3.0.3, plugin upload is disabled by default unless explicitly enabled in configuration.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module: 'Piwik Superuser Plugin Upload'. The module exploits a vulnerability (CVE-2025-34104) in Piwik (now Matomo) analytics software, allowing authenticated superusers to upload and activate a malicious plugin, resulting in remote code execution. The exploit requires valid superuser credentials and targets Piwik versions 2.14.0, 2.16.0, 2.17.1, and 3.0.1. For versions >= 3.0.3, custom plugin uploads must be enabled in the configuration. The module generates a ZIP archive containing a PHP payload as a plugin, uploads it via the web interface, and activates it to trigger code execution. The main endpoints targeted are the Piwik installation's '/index.php' and, for version detection, '/themes/default/images/logo.svg'. The exploit is weaponized, leveraging Metasploit's payload system to provide customizable PHP shells or other payloads.
