CVE-2025-38116 is a use-after-free flaw in the Linux kernel ath12k Wi-Fi driver. During ath12k_core_init(), if ath12k_core_hw_group_assign() or ath12k_core_hw_group_create() fails, an already registered panic notifier chain is not unregistered on the relevant error path. If the ath12k module is subsequently removed, memory associated with the notifier can be freed while the notifier remains reachable. A later notifier-chain access can then dereference the stale object. The upstream fix invokes ath12k_core_panic_notifier_unregister() in these failure paths.
