CVE-2025-38129 is a use-after-free race in the Linux kernel page-pool subsystem. While page_pool_recycle_in_ring recycles the final page into the pointer ring, a concurrent page_pool_release operation can scrub and destroy the page pool. The destruction path can free the page-pool object before recycling completes, leaving the recycling path to release and access a producer lock in freed memory. KASAN detected the resulting slab use-after-free during lock release. The upstream fix adds producer-lock synchronization to page_pool_release, preventing destruction until in-progress page recycling has completed.
