CVE-2025-38556 is a flaw in the Linux kernel HID core's s32ton() conversion routine. When converting a 32-bit quantity to a zero-bit quantity, s32ton() can perform an out-of-bounds shift. The condition can arise when processing a HID report containing a field whose size is zero. The fix hardens s32ton() to safely return a result for zero-bit conversions, consistent with snto32(), without rejecting the HID report or device.
