CVE-2025-38571 is an out-of-bounds memory-access vulnerability in the Linux kernel SUNRPC client's NFS-over-TLS TLS-alert handling. The tls_alert_recv path assumes that valid data remains in the msghdr iterator's kvec. During control-message processing, however, copying can advance the message iterator and its kvec pointer before tls_alert_recv is invoked. The corrected implementation reworks control-message handling through sock_recvmsg(), allocates a kvec-backed buffer for TLS control messages after kTLS signals their presence, and restores the iterator before calling tls_alert_recv.
