CVE-2025-38729 is an out-of-bounds memory-access vulnerability in the Linux kernel ALSA USB-audio subsystem. UAC3 power-domain descriptors contain a variable-length bLength field that was not adequately validated before descriptor processing. A malicious USB Audio Class 3 device or firmware can provide a malformed power-domain descriptor whose length causes the kernel to access memory outside the expected descriptor bounds. The fix validates UAC3 power-domain descriptors, including their variable bLength values, before use.
