CVE-2025-39770 is a Linux kernel networking flaw in Generic Segmentation Offload handling of IPv6 packets containing extension headers. The GSO feature-validation logic can retain checksum-offload, IPv6 TCP segmentation-offload, and UDP L4 GSO capabilities for an egress device that advertises only NETIF_F_IPV6_CSUM. That feature supports checksum offload only for plain TCP or UDP over IPv6 and does not support IPv6 extension headers. Consequently, the kernel can request an unsupported checksum-offload operation instead of computing the checksum in software. The fix masks NETIF_F_IPV6_CSUM, NETIF_F_TSO6, and NETIF_F_GSO_UDP_L4 in gso_features_check when IPv6 extension headers are present, except for the BIG TCP extension case.
