CVE-2025-39806 is an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel HID multitouch driver’s mt_report_fixup() function. When processing a HID report descriptor, the function accesses and may patch byte offset 607 without first verifying that the descriptor contains at least 608 bytes. A malicious HID device can supply an undersized descriptor and cause a slab out-of-bounds access during HID report parsing and device probing. The fix validates that the descriptor length is at least 608 bytes before accessing offset 607.
