CVE-2025-39849 is an out-of-bounds memory-corruption vulnerability in the Linux kernel Wi-Fi cfg80211 subsystem's SME connection-result handling. The __cfg80211_connect_result() function processed an SSID data length without enforcing the IEEE80211_MAX_SSID_LEN limit of 32 bytes. An SSID whose declared data length exceeds that maximum can cause memory corruption. The upstream fix adds bounds checking to cap the processed SSID length.
