CVE-2025-40034 is a NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel PCI Advanced Error Reporting (AER) subsystem. When platform firmware reports a hardware error through ACPI APEI Generic Hardware Error Source (GHES), it can identify a PCI device that does not advertise an AER Capability. Such a device has a NULL dev->aer_info pointer. Although pci_dev_aer_stats_incr() checks this pointer, aer_ratelimit() did not, allowing error handling through pci_print_aer() and aer_recover_work_func() to dereference the NULL pointer. The fix adds a NULL check in aer_ratelimit().
