CVE-2025-40294 is an out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel Bluetooth management subsystem's parse_adv_monitor_pattern() function. The function accepted advertising-monitor pattern offset and length values up to the extended advertising-data limit of 251 bytes, while the mgmt_adv_pattern structure stores pattern values in a 31-byte array. A user-controlled pattern length greater than 31 could therefore cause an out-of-bounds access when the pattern value is copied. The fix restores offset and length validation to the legacy advertising-data limit, preventing writes beyond the fixed-size array without changing the userspace-visible structure layout.
