CVE-2025-40537 is a high-severity use of hard-coded credentials vulnerability in SolarWinds Web Help Desk. The application creates a static demonstration client account during initialization with predictable embedded credentials. Under certain configurations, an attacker who authenticates through this account can access authenticated functionality and may switch to or obtain access to administrative functions, resulting in unauthorized privilege elevation. SolarWinds Web Help Desk versions 12.8.8 Hotfix 1 and earlier are affected; the issue is addressed in version 2026.1.
