CVE-2025-40577 is an out-of-bounds read in the PROFINET Discovery and basic Configuration Protocol (DCP) packet handling of Siemens SCALANCE LPE9403 devices. The DCP process does not properly validate incoming PROFINET packets, allowing a specially crafted Layer 2 packet to trigger a process crash. Affected products are SCALANCE LPE9403 model 6GK5998-3GS00-2AC2 running firmware earlier than V4.0 HF0.
