DENX Software Engineering Das U-Boot (U-Boot) v1.1.3 contains a flaw in its bootloader update or firmware loading path where signature verification is not properly performed. Because the bootloader does not adequately verify the authenticity of firmware images before installation, an attacker can supply a crafted firmware file that is accepted and installed as if it were trusted. This breaks the secure boot or trusted update assumption and can result in execution of attacker-controlled code during the boot process.

This repository is a Proof of Concept (PoC) exploit for five vulnerabilities in the U-Boot 1.1.3 bootloader, focusing on embedded/IoT devices. The main exploit script (exp.py) is a Python 3 tool that requires physical access to the device's UART (serial) interface. It automates the exploitation and evidence collection for the following vulnerabilities: (1) insecure firmware update mechanism (allows flashing arbitrary firmware), (2) extraction of hardcoded sensitive values (such as credentials or keys), (3) unauthorized access to debugging interfaces, (4) lack of protection against firmware downgrade (anti-rollback), and (5) missing secure channel for firmware updates (enabling interception or modification). The script is modular, allowing the user to target individual vulnerabilities or run all tests at once. All evidence and logs are saved in a dedicated directory. The repository includes a detailed README with usage instructions, hardware setup guidance, and descriptions of each vulnerability. No network endpoints are targeted; all exploitation is performed via the serial interface. The exploit is a PoC and does not provide weaponized or remote attack capabilities.
