CVE-2025-46701 is an improper handling of case sensitivity vulnerability in the Apache Tomcat CGI servlet. Case-sensitive handling enables bypass of security constraints applied to the pathInfo component of a URI mapped to the CGI servlet. Affected releases are Apache Tomcat 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.6, 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.40, and 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.104. Apache Tomcat 8.5.0 through 8.5.100, which were end-of-life when the CVE was created, are also known to be affected.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept (PoC) for CVE-2025-46701, a vulnerability in Apache Tomcat's CGIServlet related to improper handling of case sensitivity (CWE-178). The PoC is documented in a markdown file and demonstrates multiple attack scenarios: 1. Security constraint bypass via the pathInfo component, allowing access to protected CGI scripts by appending extra path segments. 2. Security constraint bypass via the servletPath component, exploiting case-insensitive file systems to access scripts using different casing. 3. Under specific conditions (CGI Servlet mapped to '*.pl', PUT enabled, and upload permissions), the PoC shows how an attacker can upload a malicious Perl script and execute it, achieving remote code execution (RCE). The repository contains three files: a markdown PoC, a license, and a brief README. The main exploit logic is described in the markdown file, with example curl commands for exploitation. The attack vector is network-based, targeting Tomcat servers with specific configurations. Several example endpoints are provided, illustrating both the bypass and RCE scenarios. No actual exploit code is present; the PoC is documentation with example commands and attack flows.
