CVE-2025-53766 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Windows GDI+ caused by a heap-based buffer overflow during processing of specially crafted metafile content. Available reporting indicates the flaw is in how GDI+ interprets metafiles, including EMF and EMF+ data used for vector graphics rendering, and that malformed records can trigger out-of-bounds memory access and memory corruption in graphics-handling code associated with GDI+ components such as gdiplus.dll. Successful exploitation can occur when the vulnerable system renders attacker-controlled graphic content embedded in a document, webpage, or other file format that causes GDI+ to parse the malicious metafile.

A critical heap overflow remote code execution vulnerability in Windows GDI+ that can be exploited by opening a document containing a specially crafted metafile; Microsoft excluded Preview Pane as an attack vector.
A critical Windows GDI/EMF-related vulnerability that may allow remote code execution, discovered via fuzzing of Windows GDI handling of EMF content.
A remote code execution and information disclosure vulnerability in Windows GDI (gdiplus.dll and gdi32full.dll) due to out-of-bounds memory access when processing malformed EMF/EMF+ records.
A Windows Graphics Device Interface (GDI) vulnerability involving irregular enhanced metafile (EMF/EMF+) records that can trigger image rendering-related memory corruption, potentially enabling remote code execution and/or information disclosure, possibly without user interaction.
