CVE-2025-59031 is an information disclosure vulnerability in Dovecot's provided attachment-to-text helper script, decode2text.sh. The script handles zip-style attachments unsafely during OOXML extraction and may follow symlinks embedded in specially crafted OOXML documents. When such an attachment is processed for full-text search indexing, the script can read unintended local files from the host system and feed their contents into Dovecot's FTS indexing pipeline. As a result, data from files outside the intended attachment content can be indexed and exposed through search-related mechanisms. The issue is tracked as DOV-8584 and was reported by cavid@yeswehack.
