CVE-2025-59057 is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the React Router meta() and <Meta> APIs when used in Framework Mode to generate JSON-LD script tags during server-side rendering. Affected versions are @remix-run/react 1.15.0 through 2.17.0 and react-router 7.0.0 through 7.8.2. If application-supplied untrusted content is incorporated into a script:ld+json tag, an attacker may inject content that results in JavaScript execution in the rendered page. Declarative Mode and Data Mode are not affected.

Repository purpose: a minimal React Router (Framework Mode) SSR application that reproduces an XSS vulnerability in React Router’s `meta()` / `<Meta>` APIs when generating `script:ld+json` tags. Exploit capability: The route `app/routes/vuln.tsx` returns a `meta` array containing a `"script:ld+json"` object with a malicious `name` value: `</script><script>alert('XSS')</script>`. When SSR renders meta tags, this payload can break out of the JSON-LD `<script>` context and execute arbitrary JavaScript in the client, demonstrating XSS. Key files / structure: - `app/routes/vuln.tsx`: core PoC; defines the malicious JSON-LD meta entry. - `app/root.tsx`: renders `<Meta />`, `<Links />`, and `<Scripts />` in the SSR layout; includes external font links. - `app/routes.ts`: registers routes, including `/vuln`. - `react-router.config.ts`: `ssr: true` (required to demonstrate SSR injection). - `package.json`: pins `react-router` and related packages to `7.0.0`; provides `dev`, `build`, and `start` scripts. - `Dockerfile`: containerizes build and runtime for easy reproduction. Operational notes: This is a PoC app rather than a weaponized exploit; it demonstrates the vulnerable rendering path and a simple `alert()` payload. No scanning, brute force, or remote targeting logic is included beyond serving the SSR app and visiting the `/vuln` route.
