CVE-2025-59944 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Cursor IDE affecting versions 1.6.23 and earlier. The issue stems from case-sensitive checks used to protect sensitive files, including Cursor configuration files such as MCP-related settings. On case-insensitive filesystems, an attacker can use prompt injection to bypass these protections and modify files that should be blocked from agent-driven changes. By altering protected configuration content, the attacker can cause the IDE to execute attacker-controlled behavior, resulting in full remote code execution. The vulnerability is fixed in version 1.7.
