CVE-2025-64495 affects Open WebUI, a self-hosted offline AI platform. In Open WebUI versions 0.6.34 and earlier, the feature that inserts custom prompts into the chat window is vulnerable to stored DOM-based cross-site scripting when the 'Insert Prompt as Rich Text' option is enabled. The issue arises because the prompt body is written to the DOM via the innerHTML sink without sanitization. A user with permission to create prompts can store a malicious payload in a prompt; when another user invokes the corresponding slash command to insert that prompt, the payload executes in the victim's browser session. The issue was fixed in version 0.6.35.
