CVE-2025-65606 is a vulnerability in the TOTOLINK EX200 wireless range extender’s firmware-upload handler/error-handling logic. By uploading a specially crafted malformed firmware file via the device’s web management interface, an authenticated attacker can force the device into an abnormal error state that starts a Telnet service (TCP/23) running as root without authentication. This Telnet service is normally disabled and not intended to be exposed, and once started it provides root shell access, enabling full device control (e.g., configuration changes and arbitrary command execution). The product is end-of-life and no vendor patch is available per CERT/CC (VU#295169).
