Apache Tomcat contains an improper input validation vulnerability in its handling of TLS Server Name Indication (SNI) and the HTTP Host header when serving multiple virtual hosts. Affected versions are 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.14, 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.49, 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.112, and known affected end-of-life 8.5.0 through 8.5.100. Tomcat did not validate that the hostname presented in the TLS SNI extension matched the hostname supplied in the HTTP Host header. In deployments with multiple virtual hosts where one host did not require client certificate authentication and another did, this mismatch allowed a client to negotiate TLS under one virtual host context while routing the HTTP request to another, bypassing client certificate authentication enforced at the Connector level.
