CVE-2025-68493 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in the XWork component used by Apache Struts. The flaw is caused by improper validation and unsafe parsing of XML during XWork XML configuration processing, allowing external entity resolution when attacker-controlled or otherwise untrusted XML is parsed. Affected versions include Apache Struts from 2.0.0 before 2.2.1 and from 2.2.1 through 6.1.0. The issue has also been described as missing XML validation tied to insecure XML parser behavior in the underlying Java ecosystem. Successful exploitation can cause the application to dereference external entities or process crafted XML in a way that exposes local resources, reaches internal services, or destabilizes the application.
