CVE-2025-68670 is an unauthenticated stack-based buffer overflow in xrdp, the open-source RDP server, affecting versions prior to 0.10.5. The flaw is in processing client-supplied domain information during the RDP connection sequence, before authentication. Specifically, the vulnerable code path reaches xrdp_wm_parse_domain_information, which processes the UTF-8-converted domain field from the Client Info PDU. When the supplied domain begins with an underscore, the function treats it as encoded IP-related data, searches for a "__" delimiter, and copies attacker-controlled bytes into a local 256-byte stack buffer (resultIP) using a length derived from the delimiter position without adequate bounds checking. Because the domain field can be substantially larger than 256 bytes after UTF-16 to UTF-8 conversion, a crafted domain string can overflow the stack buffer and overwrite adjacent stack data, including the saved return address, creating a path to arbitrary code execution in the xrdp server process.

A pre-authentication remote code execution vulnerability in xrdp caused by a stack-based buffer overflow when parsing domain information after UTF-16 to UTF-8 conversion.
A pre-authentication remote code execution vulnerability in xrdp caused by a stack-based buffer overflow when processing the RDP domain name field after UTF-16 to UTF-8 conversion. An attacker can supply an oversized crafted domain string to overwrite stack data and potentially control execution flow in the xrdp server process.
Unauthenticated stack-based buffer overflow in xrdp (pre-0.10.5) during connection handling of user domain information, potentially enabling remote code execution by overwriting stack data/return address; impact may be reduced if built with stack canary protection.
