CVE-2025-7028 is a Gigabyte UEFI firmware vulnerability in a Software SMI handler using SwSmiInputValue 0x20. The handler accepts attacker-controlled register values in RBX and RCX that are used to supply a crafted FuncBlock pointer. That pointer is passed without adequate validation into multiple flash-management routines, including ReadFlash, WriteFlash, EraseFlash, and GetFlashInfo. These routines dereference the supplied structure and nested members such as BufAddr, allowing an attacker to direct privileged SMM code to access arbitrary memory, including System Management RAM (SMRAM). Because the pointer and referenced fields are not properly checked before use in SMM, a local attacker can abuse the handler to obtain arbitrary read/write access to SMRAM and corrupt firmware-resident memory structures.
