CVE-2025-7029 is a vulnerability in a Gigabyte UEFI Software SMI handler associated with SwSmiInputValue 0xB2. The handler allows a local attacker to control the RBX register, and that register value is used to derive the OcHeader and OcData pointers passed into power and thermal configuration logic. Those attacker-influenced buffers are not properly validated before the firmware performs multiple structured memory writes based on OcSetup NVRAM values. Because the writes occur in SMM context and target attacker-controlled pointer-derived locations, the flaw enables arbitrary corruption of SMRAM and can be leveraged toward System Management Mode privilege escalation.
