CVE-2025-71224 is an improper-state-handling flaw in the Linux kernel mac80211 Outside the Context of a BSS (OCB) receive path. The ieee80211_ocb_rx_no_sta() function assumes that a valid channel context exists, but that context is established only after the OCB interface completes JOIN_OCB. Receive processing can occur before JOIN_OCB, while the interface is non-operational and lacks the required channel context. The upstream fix bypasses RX peer handling through ieee80211_ocb_rx_no_sta() when the OCB interface is not joined, preventing RX-path warnings caused by processing traffic in this invalid state.
