CVE-2025-71260 is a deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability in BMC FootPrints ITSM affecting versions 20.20.02 through 20.24.01.001. The issue is present in the ASP.NET servlet functionality exposed via /aspnetconfig, where the __VIEWSTATE parameter contains serialized object data that is Base64-decoded and passed into Java deserialization logic. According to the provided analysis, the vulnerable flow reaches Mainsoft/Web/Hosting/BaseFacesStateManager.class, where attacker-controlled VIEWSTATE data is processed with readObject(). This allows an authenticated attacker to supply crafted serialized objects and trigger gadget chains present on the target. The research specifically notes the presence of aspectjweaver-1.9.2 and commons-collections 3.2.2 on the target, enabling exploitation that results in arbitrary file write and ultimately remote code execution. In demonstrated exploitation, the attacker wrote a JSP web shell into the Tomcat web root and then executed code on the server.
