CVE-2026-0994 is an uncontrolled-recursion denial-of-service vulnerability in the Python Protocol Buffers JSON parser, specifically google.protobuf.json_format.ParseDict(). The parser's max_recursion_depth protection does not account for recursion performed in internal handling of google.protobuf.Any messages. An attacker can submit JSON containing recursively nested Any structures that bypass the configured depth limit, exhaust the Python interpreter recursion stack, and raise a RecursionError. Services that do not handle that exception can terminate and become unavailable.
