CVE-2026-11837 is a local privilege-escalation vulnerability in the ansible.posix authorized_key module used for SSH key management. The flaw is in the module's keyfile() function, which performs ownership changes with os.chown() and opens files without protections equivalent to O_NOFOLLOW. Because os.chown() follows symbolic links, an unprivileged local user can pre-create symlinks within their ~/.ssh directory so that, when an operator runs an authorized_key task as root, the module applies ownership changes to the symlink target rather than the intended file. This can redirect privileged file operations to arbitrary sensitive system files and create a path to privilege escalation.
