CVE-2026-12087 is an out-of-bounds heap-read vulnerability in Perl Socket versions before 2.041. The pack_ip_mreq_source() function validates the source argument's length before reading that argument, incorrectly reusing the length of the preceding multiaddr argument. A valid four-byte multiaddr therefore allows an undersized source argument to pass validation. A subsequent fixed-size copy into the four-byte imr_sourceaddr field reads up to three bytes beyond the source buffer and includes adjacent heap memory in the returned packed structure.

An out-of-bounds heap-read vulnerability in Perl's Socket module before version 2.041. In Socket.xs, pack_ip_mreq_source() incorrectly validates the source argument using the preceding multiaddr argument's byte length. A source shorter than four bytes can therefore pass validation, causing a fixed-size copy to read up to three bytes beyond its buffer and disclose adjacent heap memory in the returned structure. The advisory assigns a critical CVSS v3 base score of 9.1 and recommends updating Echo's perl library and related packages to version 5.40.1-6+e18 or later.
