CVE-2026-12485 is a critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the DVRSearch service of the GeoVision GV-I/O Box 4E. DVRSearch runs by default and listens for unauthenticated UDP messages on port 10001, allowing any network-reachable attacker to interact with the vulnerable code path. During processing of the CMD_IP_SET functionality, the service uses the length of the configured IP address field and copies it into a stack-based reply buffer with memcpy without proper bounds validation. Specifically, the copy into the reply buffer at a fixed offset is attacker-controlled, creating a stack overflow condition. Because the vulnerable service is exposed over the network by default and requires no authentication or user interaction, the flaw is remotely exploitable and can lead to memory corruption on the embedded device.
