CVE-2026-12545 is an OS command injection vulnerability in rubygem-hammer_cli (Hammer CLI) and the Ruby on Rails Railties component distributed with Red Hat Satellite. The affected editor-invocation code interpolates the EDITOR environment variable into a single string passed to Ruby's system() method. This invokes a system shell that interprets embedded shell metacharacters rather than treating the editor value solely as an executable and arguments. An attacker who can influence the environment variable can cause arbitrary shell commands to execute with the privileges of the affected application.
