CVE-2026-14257 is a memory-exhaustion vulnerability in brace-expansion through version 5.0.7. The expand() function limits the number of expansion results using the max option, which defaults to 100,000, but does not bound each result's string length. Crafted sequences of brace groups can remain below the result-count limit while increasing individual result lengths and aggregate memory consumption, ultimately causing a fatal, uncatchable Node.js out-of-memory error. Applications that pass attacker-influenced strings to expand(), directly or through minimatch or glob brace-pattern processing, may be vulnerable. Approximately 7.5 KB of crafted input can crash a default Node.js process.
