CVE-2026-15170 is a heap-based buffer overflow in Wireshark's Z39.50 MARC21 dissector, in the dissect_marc_record() routine. The dissector calculates the number of MARC directory entries using floor division by the 12-byte entry length, but its parsing loop can perform an additional iteration when an attacker-controlled directory length is not divisible by 12. This permits a write of one MARC directory entry beyond the allocated heap array. The invalid write comprises attacker-derived fields and can corrupt memory or crash Wireshark or tshark while dissecting malicious Z39.50 traffic or a crafted capture file. Wireshark 4.6.0 through 4.6.6 and 4.4.0 through 4.4.16 are affected.
