CVE-2026-16238 is a type-confusion vulnerability in PostgreSQL's pg_restore_attribute_stats() handling of range and multirange values. The function can conflate these incompatible value types, enabling an attacker who can create a suitable database object to corrupt execution state and execute arbitrary code in the operating-system context of the PostgreSQL database server process. The issue affects PostgreSQL 18 releases prior to 18.6; PostgreSQL major versions earlier than 18 are unaffected.
