CVE-2026-16239 is a type-confusion vulnerability in PostgreSQL portal and cursor lifecycle management. An authenticated database user can trigger the flaw by closing and recreating a cursor or other portal with differing types, causing PostgreSQL to mishandle the portal state. This can result in arbitrary code execution as the operating-system account running the PostgreSQL server. Affected releases are PostgreSQL versions before 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24.
