CVE-2026-16265 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the WP Maps WordPress plugin before version 4.9.7. One of the plugin's AJAX actions fails to enforce a capability check and does not sufficiently restrict the operation it dispatches. As a result, an authenticated user with only Subscriber-level privileges can invoke functionality that enters uncontrolled recursion, exhausting server resources. The flaw is caused by improper authorization on a privileged action combined with insufficient restriction of the dispatched operation, enabling low-privileged abuse of server-side processing.
