CVE-2026-16347 is an authentication weakness in MikroTik RouterOS and Cloud Hosted Router affecting API access. The flaw arises from improper restriction of excessive authentication attempts: the API does not implement effective rate limiting, account lockout, or source-based restrictions for repeated login failures. Some affected versions introduce a fixed per-connection delay, but that control can be bypassed by using concurrent sessions, allowing sustained high-volume password guessing. This weakness materially increases the likelihood that an attacker can brute-force, spray, or stuff credentials until valid administrative credentials are found, leading to unauthorized access to management services.
