CVE-2026-16461 is a stack-based buffer overflow in the rpcinfo utility distributed with rpcbind. The flaw occurs in rpcbdump() short mode, invoked with the -s option. While processing an RPCBPROC_DUMP response from a remote rpcbind service, rpcinfo appends returned version values to a fixed-size 256-byte stack buffer without tracking remaining capacity. A malicious or compromised rpcbind endpoint can return enough distinct version values for a single RPC program to exceed the buffer capacity and corrupt stack memory.
