CVE-2026-16599 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in GNU Wget through version 1.25.0. In FTP OPIE/S-KEY authentication handling, Wget uses the server-supplied sequence number from an FTP challenge as the iteration count for an MD5 key-derivation loop without enforcing an upper bound. A malicious FTP server, or an on-path attacker capable of modifying plaintext FTP traffic, can supply a sequence number near INT_MAX and cause excessive CPU-bound MD5 processing. The issue is classified as CWE-606, Unchecked Input for Loop Condition.
