CVE-2026-17084 is an incorrect Unicode-handling vulnerability in Python's stringprep module. Processing associated with RFC 3454 tables B.2 and B.3 uses the running interpreter's Unicode character attributes instead of the required Unicode 3.2.0 attributes. The vulnerable lowercasing logic calls str.lower() for characters absent from the exceptions table, introducing case-mapping differences from the specification. This causes domain-name processing mismatches through the standard-library IDNA 2003 codec and stringprep.in_table_b2(). Affected inputs contain characters introduced after Unicode 3.2.0 or characters whose attributes, including case-folding behavior, subsequently changed.
