CVE-2026-17276 is a critical privilege-escalation vulnerability affecting IBM i and IBM i Navigator for i on versions 7.3, 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6. The flaw is caused by improper authorization in the handling of high-authority threads. A remote authenticated attacker with low privileges can exploit the authorization weakness to cause operations associated with high-authority execution contexts to be performed without proper enforcement of intended privilege boundaries. The issue is remotely exploitable and does not require user interaction. The vulnerability has been described with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.6.
