CVE-2026-17594 is an incorrect authorization vulnerability in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 CE/Pro affecting versions 3.0.0 through 3.94.x. The flaw exists in the repository-creation user interface and associated create flow, including the RepositoryUiService.create() path exposed through the ExtDirect interface. Authorization is validated against one request field representing an allowed repository format, while a separate attacker-controlled field determines the repository format actually created. Because these fields can be mismatched, an authenticated user with delegated repository-admin privileges limited to one repository format can create a repository of a different, unauthorized format. The issue is a privilege-escalation and authorization-bypass condition rather than unauthenticated access, and it does not affect the anonymous user by default because anonymous access cannot normally hold the required delegated privilege.
