CVE-2026-18794 is an improper input-validation vulnerability in OpenRGB's custom network protocol. The protocol handler accepts inconsistent packet metadata and malformed payload structures, including excessively large declared payload lengths, non-null-terminated strings, oversized array entries, and truncated data. Affected code may allocate memory according to an attacker-declared size before receiving the complete payload, or process malformed structures without adequate bounds validation, resulting in memory exhaustion and out-of-bounds reads or writes. OpenRGB 1.0 release candidates beginning with 1.0rc1 are identified as fully affected; stable 0.9 and likely earlier releases are reported to remain exposed to remote denial-of-service vectors.
