CVE-2026-20348 is a memory corruption vulnerability in ClamAV's XAR file format parser. The flaw is caused by improper boundary and size handling when processing XAR content, specifically while decompressing a malformed table of contents. In affected versions, the parser can request excessive memory allocation or exceed scan limits due to insufficient validation of size-related values in crafted XAR data. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger the issue by supplying a specially crafted file containing malicious XAR content to a system that uses ClamAV to scan untrusted files. Successful exploitation can terminate the scanning process and may permit broader impact because the underlying condition involves memory corruption.
