CVE-2026-22002 is an easily exploitable vulnerability in the Oracle MySQL Server Optimizer component. It affects MySQL Server versions 8.0.0 through 8.0.45, 8.4.0 through 8.4.8, and 9.0.0 through 9.6.0. A high-privileged attacker with network access through multiple supported protocols can exploit the flaw to cause the MySQL Server service to hang or crash repeatedly. The specific underlying weakness and vulnerable optimizer function have not been disclosed.

This repository is a small Python proof-of-concept for CVE-2026-22002, described as a VNC authentication bypass caused by protocol version confusion during the RFB handshake. The repo contains two code files: `vnc_server_sim.py`, which implements a deliberately vulnerable VNC-like server, and `exploit_vnc_downgrade.py`, which acts as the attacking client. The server listens on TCP/5900, sends `RFB 003.008\n`, reads the client version string, and if it sees `003.003` it responds with security type 1 (`None`) instead of type 2 (`VNC Auth`). The exploit connects to `localhost:5900`, receives the server banner, sends `RFB 003.003\n`, and reads back the selected security type to demonstrate the downgrade. The capability is limited to handshake manipulation and authentication bypass demonstration; it does not implement full post-auth remote desktop interaction or a shell payload. Note that `exploit_vnc_downgrade.py` appears incomplete/buggy because it calls `struct.unpack` without importing `struct`, but its intended exploit behavior is clear from the code and README.
